Gastronomy/Shopping
| Once it were kings and emperors, messengers and singers, warriors and merchants that passed through South Tyrol, stopped for a rest and were entertained. Already the archduke Maximilian of Austria, who in 1551 went northwards with a great suite and a real elephant, a present of the king of Portugal, stopped in Brixen and recovered from the strains of the trip. From then on, one of the most famous hotels in Brixen is called “Elephant”. We invite you for a trip to the culinary region of Brixen and its surroundings: in traditional inns, that seduce you with delicacies from the local kitchen, in top restaurants with a special atmosphere, in farmers’ “Stuben“ with homely comfort and in rural inns, where south-tyrolian tradition and Italian flair join each other. You can find this in “pizzerias”, cake shops and cafés; moreover, the city offers also some pubs and clubs for the people of the night. Any of your wishes is fulfilled in the “Eisacktal”. |
