Brixen to bee

Bees are a very important part of our ecosystem. They pollinate plants that we later consume and with their work they give us wonderful products.
Beekeeper Erich loves working with the bees and produces many products from the bee honey. He is also the one who makes the Brixen city honey. We walk to the beehives that Erich keeps in a forest above Brixen. We will learn about the life of the bee and its purpose within our ecosystem. Afterwards, we accompany the passionate beekeeper to his working studio, where he processes the yellow treasure into honey, creams and propolis. Tip: If you like, you can take some of his products back to Brixen.

Wild Water
Brixen is located in a valley basin, where mountain ranges rise up on the sides of the town. These mountains are not only beautiful places for excursions, but also the source of one of the most precious commodities: water. Lonely mountain lakes, powerful streams and quiet rivers - impressive water places are waiting to be explored. Our greatest fortune is the excellent drinking water that springs from the mountains and flows through our taps.
Join us on this hike and experience water in its many forms. We walk along the city river and hike towards mount Plose. We discover the wild Trametschbach river and refresh ourselves in a Kneipp facility in the middle of the forest. Ture to the motto "0 km", we get to know the source of drinking water and taste delicious products from the Schnagererhof farm’s own cultivation. The organic farm works in harmony with nature and offers a magnificent view of Brixen. We continue our tour, fill up our water bottles at a drinking water fountain in the village and hike on to a small church on a hill before heading back to Brixen.

Majestic Dolomites
High rocky peaks rise from the ground in South Tyrol. At the foot of these giants you feel small, but up among the rocks as powerful and strong as hardly anywhere else. This is exactly the feeling we want to experience and therefore we set off to the Peitlerkofel in the middle of the Dolomites.
From the Würzjoch car park we hike steadily upwards to the Peitlerscharte crossing, from where we can enjoy breathtaking views. We hike on to the Zendleserkofel peak in beautiful landscapes. The Villnöss Geisler peaks seem close enough to touch. The Schlüterhütte mountain hut is located below the peak, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. We hike back to the valley, where we can stop by briefly at the Nature Park Museum.

Secret Places and Herbal Treasures
Brixen is surrounded by deep forests and wide meadows where wonderful places and delicious herbal treasures are hidden. This is exactly where we are drawn on this tour. We want to recharge our batteries, enjoy the silence and taste delicacies from the forest and meadow cuisine.
The Plose gondola lift takes us from St. Andrä up to the mountain station in Kreuztal. We hike along deserted paths towards the Ochsenalm, a dreamy spot above the forest line. There, where tranquillity still rules the day, we enjoy a snack before visiting the Schmiedthof herb farm. Farmer Rita welcomes us and shows us her lovingly tended herb garden. Together we take a close look behind the scenes of the herb farm, explore the small farm shop and taste colourful homemade herbal juices.

Lonely mountain lake
Green meadows, a unique mountain landscape, rewarding summit tours and rustic mountain huts. Away from the well-known hiking routes, Brixen hides wonderful natural highlights. One of them is the Schrüttensee lake. The clear mountain lake is hidden in the quiet Schalderertal valley near Brixen.
We hike from the hamlet of Schalders through forests and medium-steep hills up to the lake, which lies at the timberline at 1,957 metres. Surrounded by alpine roses and flowering grass, the water of the lake shimmers in the sun. We enjoy the freshness and unspoilt natural beauty and take a few moments of peace. On the way back to the valley, we stop at a small mountain hut.

Summit Happiness and Alpine Tales
Mount Scheibenberg lies at 1,925 metres high above Brixen. The wide view at the summit and the surrounding mountains that seem close enough to touch give us an absolute feeling of freedom. Tip: Close your eyes and consciously breathe in the fresh mountain air.
Hike with us from the hamlet of Spiluck near Brixen to this wonderful viewpoint on Mount Scheibenberg. A short but steep ascent through dense forests leads us directly to the summit. Once there, we are rewarded with the view of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site of the Dolomites. We continue the tour to the Zirmait Alm mountain hut, where the smell of fresh alpine food attracts us and the hosts captivate us with stories of life on the alp. We end the impressive mountain tour with the descent back to Schalders.
