We’re Making a Clear Statement in Favour of: Authenticity, Eco-friendliness and Sustainability

As one of the five original South Tyrolean Christmas Markets, the Brixen Christmas Market is distinguished by its focus on authenticity and eco-sustainability. Particular emphasis is placed on the most efficient use of resources, such as 100% reliance on green energy for electricity, use of LED lighting, elimination of disposable plastics, efficient waste management practices and sustainable mobility. At the Brixen fair, handcrafted artwork, traditional Christmas decorations, organic food as well as the use of regional and seasonal products are promoted.

Features of the Green Event at the Brixen Christmas Market include:
- Regional, seasonal and vegetarian food on sale are made with organic ingredients
- Beverage cans are banned – and only reusable dishes are allowed
- Organized waste management systems, for waste prevention and waste separation
- Environmentally-friendly transport such as shuttle buses, plus sustainable travel info
- Brochure: detailing use of FSC paper and climate-neutral printing
- Most efficient use of energy

Visitors can contribute to environmental protection by travelling to the Christmas markets in an environmentally friendly way and reaching the markets with their Mobilcard or spending the night at a BrixenCard partner accommodation.
