Glaciers can play an important role in the regional water balance, they store a not insignificant amount of water on the mainland and they are important indicators of changes in the climate. Man-made climate change is in full swing and is also affecting glaciers. Their extent and their function as seasonal water reservoirs are changing, they contribute significantly to sea level rise and they are important indicators that climate change (i) is a global phenomenon and (ii) manifests itself not only in temperature changes. Particularly worrying processes are now taking place on the two large "glaciers", the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica. The lecture will take a "journey" in climate change from an Alpine glacier via tropical glaciers onto and under the ice sheets and back.

After a profound experience on the Lofoten Islands, filmmaker Steffen Krones from Dresden begins to build buoys to track the paths of plastic waste through german and international waters. In the process, he meets scientists and companions who support him in his project. Steffen travels north with the buoys - a road trip that opens his eyes to the condition of our waters and the need for substantial change.

The members of the Riversurf Brixen group navigate the Eisack river with their surfboards and with an elastic rope attached to the Widmann bridge. They amaze the spectators with various tricks such as curves, turns and jumps. Together with the municipality of Brixen, the association aims to build Italy’s first river wave, modelled on the world-famous Eisbach wave in Munich.

REFRACTIVE INDEX is an audiovisual performance by MONOCOLOR. The entirely generative images and sounds of the work create an audiovisual experience that is in a constant state of flux. Pointclouds form structures and shapes that alternate between intricate, architectural formations and natural, organic patterns.

In the setting of the Neustift Abbey, as part of the Water Light Festival programme, an outstanding conference, promoted by Zumtobel, invites to investigate the relationships between light, architecture and art in the sacred place.

Leonhard Angerer often dreams of snow. This is probably why he explores the snowy Alps in North-South Tyrol and Trentino with his camera. His focus is on climate change, his favourite subject is snow and the eternal ice. The large-format photographic work hanging on the façade of the Brixen Tourism Building bears the telling title: on the edge of the abyss. According to UN Secretary-General Guterres, the earth is on the edge of the abyss due to global warming. The big print depicts the Marmolada glacier and in the centre of the photograph you can see the momentous glacier collapse that occurred in July 2022 due to the excessively high temperatures. The photographic work is intended as both a warning and a reminder.

In the breakfast area of the Arthotel Lasserhaus, a kind of chandelier floats in a shaft of light and transports those standing or sitting below it to another world of water and light. The central meeting point in the building is thus emphasised.
