Underworld
artwork by Aleksandra Stratimirovic
composer Leonel Kaplan

“Underworld” is a spatial installation in form of luminous forms depicting imaginary tiny undersea settlement.

Project emerged with the aim to put attention onto sensitive sea life and its fragile environment. The concept takes inspiration from small fishermen town Smögen, from it’s very specific marine environment, and the significant engaging commitment of the local community in the preservation of the marine environment. “Sotenäs Marine Recycling Center” takes care of discarded fishing gear, ghost net and ocean plastic that is collected from the shorelines from all over Sweden. The artwork is created using the disposed fishing materials that are collected from the sea bottom by this initiative of the sea-cleaning actions.
