CHRISTOPH HINTERHUBER | MONOPOLY

Stadtgalerie

Since 2007, the Innsbruck-based artist Christoph Hinterhuber has been compiling a kind of dictionary under the title “Monohole”, through which he aims to break down rigid linguistic structures. These are neologisms intended to create a new universal organic language. The artist sees the dancefloor as the ideal setting for this new language, which is why the main hall of the Stadtgalerie will be transformed into a kind of nightclub. Everyone is invited to join in the dancing. The soundtrack will be provided by the Innsbruck DJ duo monomono, who have composed danceable music from Christoph Hinterhuber’s neologisms and will invite the audience to dance at the exhibition opening on 28 April at 7 pm.

Austria

Christoph Hinterhuber (*1969) works with a highly conceptual approach shaped by the digital. His oeuvre explores questions of abstraction and space from multiple perspectives. He interweaves pictorial, performative, digital, semiotic, architectural, linguistic, sonic and public spaces, as well as social, cognitive and (art-)historical spaces.
