Jakub Nepraš is a Czech artist who compiles video material from various sources, digitally transforms and alienates it to create video collages or, as he calls them, "video paintings". He projects the moving images onto screens, but also onto Plexiglas sculptures he has created. In his works, the artist mixes images of nature and organic forms with scenes from our contemporary life in the age of communication and high-tech.

The source material for the large-format video collage is various filmic observations of activities in urban contexts, such as traffic flows of vehicles on roads, trains on rails or people crossing squares. In the artistic realisation, these activities become forms, colours and rhythms with which the artist creates a pulsating, artificial ecosystem. The art project emphasises the close link between natural and anthropogenic factors - such as soil, water, air and traffic facilities, transport routes and flows of goods - from which the complex urban ecosystem results.
