IMAGINE PEACE ARTIST
Fractions is a growing, unfinished light project within the framework of Imagine Peace. Every war leaves behind ruins: not only destroyed cities, but also shattered values, hopes and human relationships. Fractions deals with these fragments. Inspired by the Japanese art form kintsugi, in which breaks are made visible with gold, the project addresses the traces of injury and the possibility of new connections. Scars, flaws and breaks remain deliberately visible. The installation extends across several buildings in the participating cities and integrates elements from previous festivals and workshops. Fractions sees itself as a process – just as peace is an ongoing, collective act. Along the Große Lauben, a flowing projection reminiscent of a stream is created. Fragments and image excerpts created by visitors to previous festivals in Essen and Copenhagen float in it, gradually coming together to form a common image.
