Seminar 'Beyond Rupture: In Search of New Horizons for Environmental Action and Peace'
08.05.26
5-6:30 pm

Cusanus Akademie

The conference features climate journalist Ferdinando Cotugno, a leading voice in environmental communication.

The event looks at the ecological crisis not only as a break with past development models, but as a chance to rethink collective action, political responsibility, and the stories we tell about the future. Drawing on his work, Cotugno will argue for moving beyond apocalyptic narratives towards more practical, solution-oriented approaches.

It will also explore the links between environmental action and peace, showing how climate change reshapes inequalities, conflicts, and cooperation, and why multilateralism needs to be rethought to build a more sustainable and just future. Language: EN

Chairs and benches invite the audience to enjoy a shared cinema experience under the stars. Recommended for ages 12 and over, free admission (maximum capacity 120 people). In case of rain, the screening will be brought forward to 8 May or postponed to 10 May.

Fire Show 'Imagine Peace' by 'Games with flames' (Mutoid Waste Company)
16.05.26
9 pm

Schenoni Areal

To conclude the festival and mark the International Day of Light, the group Games With Flames presents the large-scale fire performance “IMAGINE PEACE” in the former Schenoni barracks area. This spectacular production combines theatre, fire, visual effects and sculptural elements to create a powerful narrative about war, destruction and the longing for peace. Through surreal and striking images, the absurdity of conflict becomes visible — along with the hope for a world in which violence can give way to a desire for peace. A powerful reminder that peace must be protected and safeguarded every day, wherever we live.

Water Light Experience

Daily at 9:15 pm

See the festival from a different perspective: our guides lead you through the most captivating installations, sharing the stories behind them and inviting you to experience Bressanone in a completely new light.

The night belongs to light. Yet behind every glow lies an idea, a story, a moment of wonder. The Water Light Experience invites you not only to see the festival, but to truly understand it. Knowledgeable guides accompany you to the most significant installations, revealing the artists, their visions and the dialogue between water, light and the historic cityscape of Bressanone. The question “What is it?” gradually becomes “Why does it move me?” — and that is where the real encounter with art begins.

During a walk of around one and a half hours, you will wander through a Bressanone transformed by light, discovering the stories behind the artworks and taking the festival home with you not just as a memory, but as a lived experience. Ideal for curious travellers, couples, families and groups looking for more than a simple evening stroll. Places are limited — advance booking through Bressanone Tourism is recommended.
