HOFBURG BRIXEN
Opera had earned its reputation as a “powerhouse of emotions” long before German philosopher Alexander Kluge described it as such. Technically speaking, an opera is a place where emotions are created and transferred into the hearts and minds of the audience. These feelings are not only conjured up by the opera singers – by their sheer physical presence, virtuosity and incredible talent – but also by the opera house itself, together with the on-stage scenery and atmosphere. Set against the dreamlike backdrop of Hofburg palace’s softly lit Renaissance courtyard, A Night at the Opera is a fantastic tribute to opera and all its emotions. Embark on a journey through 300 years of opera history with Finnish soprano star Camilla Nylund, Welsh world-class bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, former Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales Hannah Stone, the BrixenClassics Festival Choir directed by Christian Unterhofer and the BrixenClassics Festival Orchestra conducted by Daniel Geiss. Join us and experience the highs and lows of life, yearning love, deep pain and sometimes even death. From Claude Debussy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Gioachino Rossini to Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner, the performance features many of opera’s great names – all true masters in conveying an exuberance of emotions.
